With 138.5 mm of rainfall falling since the start of May the course is still very wet. Course staff have not been able to cut green surrounds or rough at all over the past two weeks.
Fairways 2,3,6,8,9,13 and 16 were able to be mown last Thursday the 9th May. Unfortunately, all other fairways have not been cut since Thursday the 2nd May. As a result, the height of fairways will be increased by 1mm to bring them up to 17mm to avoid scalping.
We will be doing our best to mow fairways and rough that is dry enough on Thursday the 16th May and Friday the 17th May. Some fairways will be re – shaped for a temporary period around wet areas so turf is not damaged.
Greens, tees, collars and aprons have been cut as usual with walk behinds used on greens when the triplex was unable to be used.
With the reduction of mowing staff have been able to mulch several garden areas on the course and spray weeds in several garden areas.
Soil has been removed from the new garden beds around the new Pro Shop and new organic garden mix added into them to be ready for planting out.
A new irrigation system was also installed and an audit carried out on the existing irrigation system around the clubhouse by our irrigation contractors.
There are several projects that we are now able to start to focus on now we have time to do. These include:
– Extend rear 6th tee and plant out.
– Remove shrubs RHS 11th men’s tee and re – shape
– Turf rear 13th tee where shrubs were removed from.
– When the project is completed at the third hole the soil that has been transported to the RHS of the 5th will be shaped and turfed out.
That’s all for now.
